A new motorcycle is on the scene, and it is impressing everyone with its innovative design. The brainchild of Turkish industrial designer Mehmet Doruk Erdem, the BMW APLHA Bullet Bike came about after years of careful planning and consideration. And, with the help of machinist Mark Atkinson of Salt Lake City, Utah, the ALPHA was taken from merely an interesting concept to a tangible, steel-and-wheel motorcycle.

Sears Imported Autos has all the details on this exciting project for you here.

"Great white sharks have always been an inspiration to me," says Erdem on what sparked his ALPHA concept. "I decided to mimic their anatomy for ALPHA's bodywork. It had to look powerful and beautiful at the same time."

And powerful and beautiful it certainly is. When Atkinson decided to start building Erdem's ALPHA designs (which were posted to the designer's Instagram account), he used a salvaged BMW K75 motorcycle for its basis. Working on the ALPHA's chassis after hours at his job, Atkinson got in contact with Erdem to discuss furthering the project. Erdem loved what Atkinson had done, and a cross-cultural collaboration was born.

Sixteen months later, the ALPHA was complete. Keeping the 740cc inline three-cylinder BMW engine from the K75, the Atkinson also implemented BMW's famous kidney grilles into the nose—which further enhanced its shark-like aesthetic. And beyond just creating a truly one-of-a-kind motorcycle, Erdem and Atkinson created a strong friendship over the months they spent working on ALPHA. So much so that they may, in fact, collaborate on another of Erdem's mastermind ideas: a design called "Titan."

While the world waits with baited breath for the Titan project, we can admire ALPHA all we want. And with its interesting backstory and its gorgeous and sleek design, we'll be doing quite a lot of it.
