There is nothing wrong with being single on Valentine’s Day, but it can be hard to feel loved when everyone around you seems to be all caught up in romantic bliss. To avoid feeling lonely, use these strategies, provided to you by Sears Imported Autos, to plan ahead and have fun.
Pamper Yourself at Home
If you are recently single, make a list of all the activities you could not enjoy, or did not have time for, when you were in a previous relationship. These could include reading, taking long baths, going to art galleries, listening to music, or eating foods your partner did not like. Take this list and schedule as many of your favorite activities as you have time for on Valentine’s Day.
You could also rent some movies and buy your own chocolate or other treats to eat while watching them. If you are feeling heartsick, be sure to stay away from sappy romantic movies and go with something else that will lift your spirits.
Pamper Yourself Away from Home
If you can afford it, make an appointment at a spa and get a relaxing massage, a refreshing facial, a mani-pedi, or other special treatments that help you feel pampered. Single women can also plan to do a mini-makeover by making a hair appointment for a new hair style or color, or by shopping for a new outfit.
Go Out with Friends
Make Valentine’s Day a nice night out with friends. When you spend Valentine’s Day with other single friends, there is no time to feel left out. Valentine’s Day does not have to be about romantic love. Your friends love you as well, so share the love!
If you do not have single friends, you can still go out. With so many places offering wi-fi, grab a book and your cell phone or tablet and head out to a coffee or book shop for some surreptitious people watching. Who knows, you just may make a connection for next year! Of course, you shouldn’t go out with the expectation that you’ll meet someone, but do keep an open mind.
Spend Time with Family
Whether you spend time with children, parents, single siblings, or grandparents in a nursing home, doing so on Valentine’s Day is not just rewarding for your own well-being, but for your family members, as well. The love of family is a great gift, so use this day to enjoy it, especially if you aren’t able to see them regularly.
Keep Your Priorities Straight
Understand that Valentine’s Day, like other holidays, is a big marketing event. The love of others, or yourself, cannot be defined by your romantic status or price tag.
