Just like with your home, regular maintenance is essential if you want to keep your car looking and performing at its best. Spring cleaning for your vehicle is about more than just washing the exterior and keeping the interior tidy, and Sears Imported Autos is here to help you every step of the way. Whether you enjoy the pleasure of caring for your own vehicle or prefer the experts at Sears Imported Autos get your vehicle back to its best, this is the season to give your vehicle a fresh start.

Start with interior cleaning

The first step is removing all trash, including looking under the seats and other spots where you know you've been throwing "stuff." Next, give your vehicle a thorough vacuuming, starting at the top and working your way down because gravity pulls dirt and pollen towards the floor. If you’re doing this on your own, you'll need hand attachments that can get into tiny spaces around the seats. Use a screwdriver or can of compressible air to dig dirt from hard to reach corners.

Don’t forget to also give attention to removable floor mats, carpeting, and seats. Important note: don't forget to use a cleaner recommended for your car's upholstery and dashboard surfaces and follow directions for application. Always ask the Sears Imported Autos service department if you’re unsure.

Wash the exterior (including the tires)

After the grit and grime of the winter season, the underbody of your vehicle will need attention. You can use a strong hose spray or a power wash attachment to get under your car and in the front and back of your tires. When washing the outside of your car yourself, use only products recommended for this purpose. Hand-dry using soft fiber cloths that are absorbent and that won't scratch the paint. (Natural fiber cloths are perfect for this.)

The extra step of waxing will not only give your car a sparkling shine, but also protect the finish that helps maintain resale value.

Replace wiper blades

With spring showers on their way, your wiper blades should be at their best. If you notice that your blades cause streaking or aren’t clearing as much water, it’s a good idea to invest in a new pair. We can help you find the right set for your vehicle at a great price.

Get fluids checked and refilled

Some fluids, like window wiper fluid, deplete more quickly during the winter, and oil should be changed around every 5,000 miles or so. Take this opportunity to get your vehicle inspected at the Sears Imported Autos service department, where we can check and top off any needed vehicle fluids.

Get tires inspected and aligned (if needed)

Changing temperatures often affect your tire pressure, not to mention the wear and tear that occurs every time you take your vehicle out on the road. For a quick test of whether your treads are too low, stick a penny into each tire’s grooves. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, visit Sears Imported Autos to find new tires that will keep you safe on the road. We’ll also check to see if your wheels are out of alignment while you're here.
