By now, most people are aware of the upcoming naming shift coming to the Mercedes-Benz lineup. The upcoming GLE-Class coupe is the first model to actually bear this new nomenclature, and the automaker couldn’t have selected a more enthralling debut.

The 2016 GLE-Class Coupe is undeniably focused on performance, and thus will be available in the U.S. only as an AMG® model. The range starts with the GLE450 AMG®, part of the new AMG® Sport lineup. Mercedes-Benz has designed an exceptional 362-horsepower biturbo V6 for the powertrain, paired with 4MATIC® permanent all-wheel drive. A DYNAMIC SELECT® multimode drive feature will offer even more configurability behind the wheel, and drivers can also opt for available DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist.

The GLE-Coupe will also offer a full-fledged AMG® model, the GLE63. As befits this model’s monstrous AMG® legacy, it will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 with approximately 500 horsepower.

Mercedes-Benz has introduced an array of active and passive safety technologies in recent years, and all will be available as standard or optional features on the GLE-Coupe. The Driving Assistance Package, with features including PRE-SAFE® Brake with pedestrian detection, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, and more, will be a must for drivers looking for the full complement. The GLE-Coupe also comes standard with the cutting-edge COMAND® infotainment system with 8.0-inch central display.

We expect the GLE-Coupe to arrive at our dealership in late summer 2015. Follow us for more information on this upcoming model, or contact us directly for the latest details.
