While it may not seem fair to students who came up before the computer age, the advent of search engines and apps has made learning easier.
Better still, instead of spending a small fortune on software products, students have access to apps that provide must-have information and technology to enhance the school experience and increase knowledge.
Sears Imported Autos recommends these apps for students who want to make the grade:
1. BibMe
Is there anything worse than finishing a long, arduous term paper only to be reminded you need a bibliography? This app allows you to create a quick bibliography or works cited page in several formats. You either enter the required information yourself or utilize the search feature to find articles, websites, books, or films. (free)
2. NoteMesh
Let’s say you sunbathed by the swimming pool in the afternoon and skipped a couple of classes. Not a problem. Developed by students, NoteMesh is an app that allows students to collaborate on notes for a selected class. (free)
3. New Oxford American Dictionary
An iPhone app, this amazing tool has more than 250,000 entries, 60,000 audio pronunciations, and a helpful search application. ($29.99)
4. NetVibes
Many students tend to visit the same sites each day, and this app allows them to coordinate all their preferred email accounts, social networks, blogs, video providers, and more to one place. (free)
This easy-to-use flashcard app is a great study tool. You can use it to create your own flashcards complete with text, audio, and images from your photo library--or take advantage of the many cards already created by other students. ($2.99)
6. Periodic
If you don’t have the entire periodic table memorized, don’t worry. This iPhone app organizes the 118 elements by name, symbol, atomic number, chemical series, and phase. (free)
If you want the best looking dorm room on your floor, this app allows you to design your dorm room interiors in 3D, then make décor selections online. Other features include a comprehensive checklist and an application where parents can send care packages. (free)
8. CliffsNotes
This classic study aid utilized by earlier student generations in small book form is now available as an iPhone app. You’ll find plot summaries, character analyzes, and quizzes on some of literature’s greatest works. ($1.99)
9. BookRenter
Textbook prices have skyrocketed in recent years. This app gives you access to a catalog of millions of titles to rent instead of buy. It features reasonable prices and flexible shipping options. (free)
