Range is a big deal when you’re thinking about purchasing an electric vehicle. It might almost be more important than miles per gallon in a gasoline vehicle. Because you must wait for EV models to recharge, making the most of every mile is essential. That’s why, when Mercedes-Benz decided to craft electric models, it didn’t settle for “good enough.” The new EQS goes the distance.

Edmunds put the new EDS 450+ to the test, using testing that reflects real-world use, and the results are stunning. This test is done with nearly-identical conditions, and many EV models have scored about the same—until now. The EQS 450+ has achieved a mileage of 422 miles, well exceeding its 350-mile EPA-estimated range.* Not only does the EQS beat itself, it also beats the competition. Tesla’s Model 3 Long Range is in second, with the EQS holding a 77-mile lead over the popular model.

The EQS produces an admirable 329 horsepower and 419 pound-feet of torque. With sizing and inspiration taken from the S-Class, the EQS is slated to be Mercedes-Benz’s flagship EV sedan. It’s boasting beautifully crafted materials with futuristic styling and dramatic interior lighting. Manufactured sustainably from start to finish, Mercedes-Benz aims to make a statement with the entire EQ lineup, starting with the outstanding EQS.
